Roaming the Red Carpet

October 21st 2006 04:30
The world's a big place, I'm is glad to help you find your way around the all new - Travel Networking.

WHAT IS TRAVEL NETWORKING: It's the new online genius which can help you find a travel companion to finding a great restaurant recommendation. There are a variety of sites which help you with all your networking needs.

Example One: A Small World

Everyone wants to belong to clubs that don't want them. So it's little wonder the travel networking site A Small World is of interest to me. Membership to the ultra-exclusive travel networking site is strictly invite-only and its roster is rumoured to include
. Behind the virtual red velvet rope its members share information about restaurants, clubs and hotels.

Other useful sites are below and their names pretty much speak for themselves.

Cheers to Melbourne

October 18th 2006 06:27

Melbourne’s cutting edge cuisine has its attractions. Even Jamie Oliver has joined in the spot light, dishing up his tucker at the new Fifteen Restaurant in the Windsor Hotel. However celebrities aside, Australians cultural Capital has its heart beat in it’s bubbling bar scene.

Melbourne is Australia’s most European city, walking in the cities streets is like strolling next to the Seine in Paris or South Yarra as Melbourne’s know it. But far from Europe lives a city with so much nostalgia for the good times and an all hour’s scene for sipping the good stuff.

For the sake of convince, Melbourne’s central drinking area is nestled between Flinder’s Street and Victoria Parade. Once you’re in this area, you’ve found the key to abundance. Some of the best bars are harder to find than a needle in a hay stake. As all things trendy these days, they are typically located in abandon warehouses or converted churches.

Shh don’t tell anyone but … www.hiddenbarsofmelbourne.com

The Rail Thing

The Rail Thing
As the Japanese revere rice and the French their own wine, to Russians vodka represents much that is quintessentially Russian. So what better way to see the Motherland than on the ultimate railway journey – the Vodkatrain. In Russia they say, "There are only two kinds of vodka, good and very good", so it’s pretty much guaranteed from centuries old folklore you’re going to have the time of your life. A traditional ride begins in Molotov style, departing from Moscow, the capital of Russia and takes passengers along the Trans-Siberian route, past Irkutsk, through Lake Baikal and arriving in Vladivostok 14 days later. Vodka train takes the traditional ideas of group travel, the things we hate, like regimented meal times and enforced sightseeing and gives it the vodka twist. Vodkatrain provides a local person in each city – or as they say a Honcho. These local guides will provide you with inside knowledge and help you get the most out of your stay. The Vodkatrain serves as your support network – providing accommodation, transport, transfers en-route and your local Honcho. The groups are designed to be pint size with a maximum of 15 people. That’s something I’d like to drink to.
