First Class Travel - What's Hot, Undiscovered & Fun in Travel

Blog is the New Black

August 14th 2006 17:14
Sex. Love. Marriage. Music. Food. Everyone is blogging something. So I've decided to hop on the blogging band wagon.

In my first blog ever, here I introduce First Class Travel. This blog will attempt to bring you what's hot, undiscovered and fun in the travel world.

It won't necessarily mean you'll have to get off your couch to do the things I suggest. It can be as simple as the newest gadget to the latest fashion item in the travel industry.

So don't fear, I won't suggest you run your wallet bare. After all I am the girl with champagne taste and a lemonade budget.

As useful as it is entertaining (hopefully) I'll bring you everything you wish you knew but just haven’t heard about yet.

Happy Travels!

Leah...x

Hey Leah, I'm going to be doing some travelling soon -- mainly to Malaysia and England, but also taking a fast tour around Europe. Any tips for these locales?

Welcome to Travel Tricks 101:

Sounds like your in for the long haul when it comes to this excitihing trip of yours Adrain. So the best I can do for you is show you how to strech your money like a gumie bear.
1. Never change your money at airport exchange counters. Go to your closest ATM and withdrawn as much as you need and a little more to reduce bank fees.
2. Rather than checking into a hotel for a week. Try www.thegumtree.com.au for cheap accomidation. Usually someone will be going overseas for a week and happy to lend their place out.
3. Stock up on local market food. Not only will it be cheaper, it will probably taste better and there's nothing like a morning market stall to get the travel blood running.
4.If staying in a hotel and it offers free breakfast - eat up. There is nothing wrong with sneaking a few bread rolls either! or toilet paper (usually in European countries you'll have to pay for this)
5. London is especially pricey - so take in the free stuff. BBC live shows www.bbc.co.uk , skatting through London (have to have your own skates) www.londonskaters.co.uk, or alternatively walk and enjoy the beauty of one heck of a cool city!

Enjoy the jouney as much as you'll enjoy the destination.

Good Luck!

Thanks very much Leah! I haven't done much travelling at all, so your ideas are new to me and very helpful. I'll especially be looking into that thegumtree option.

NEW YORK the city that never sleeps and everything you want is only a stone throw away. The best thing you can do before you arrive, is start to feel travel savvy. Do this by reading a variety of New York magazines, try www.newyorkmetro.com. Then for your career with kids, its always best to do a First Aid course, not only will it look good on your resume, you could save someone's life. Then make sure all your references are spick and span. Any contact in NY to varify your character is a bonus. Start looking on www.craigslist.com for a job and you'll discover that like London, every second mum has a nanny! There are also agencies in Australia, but beware take the direct route and you'll find the money is better.

Have fun and take care of youself!

SOUTH AMERICA. It's the fourth largest continent and has 12 countries included in it. Is there something specific your looking for - Volunteer work? General travel? Language school? Let me know.
